An exhibition about death, led me to 'Fannie..

Penryn.Cornwall
Well, where to begin.. A few months ago I wandered into an exhibition at Fannie and Fox, it was an unusual exhibition about death.. Not many of those about.. I was intrigued as you might imagine. I got talking to a lady who turned out to be the owner, Pam Tongue.

She explained that the gallery was evolving and was soon to become a co-operative.. As we hadn't yet moved to Falmouth and were still living in Constantine I didn't think much more about it.. Then I thought, why not show this lady my work, so I took my box. Which is about loss and memories..
Pam loved it, and once again said about the co-op, and maybe I could be a guest artist when I moved to Falmouth.
So some weeks later after a frustrating move. (That is putting it politely). I was a guest artist at Fannie & Fox. Complete with 'Sailors and Sail Boats  ' and 'Sailors and Dancers'.
One thing led to another...  And now I am on a new journey with a group wonderful artists at Fannies... We take it in turns to 'man' the gallery a couple of times a month.. And that is where I shall be today...
So Ta ta for now..

I have never, had a moose come through my letter box before...

Imagine my delight at the beginning of May to be contacted by print maker Linda Cote
(from Alberta,Canada, no less) to say that I had won a gift for becoming her 300th like on her fb page.
A little parcel was delivered through my door yesterday afternoon and to my surprise there were 4 original hand-printed cards inside. I am so surprised and amazed by Linda's generosity.
Thank you Linda Cote, they are an absolute delight..

'Happy Days' at Ben Coode-Adams farm

Last weekend we had an invitation to visit Ben Coode-Adams and Freddie Robins
at their 'Happy Days' exhibition and open garden.. Our son David has been working there for the past few months creating an eclectic range of wood creations using recycled materials.  Here he is posing with his friend Michael Polom in front of the display panels (which will eventually become a toilet block) he created.
Does anyone recognise the person in the back ground?
This is the bird hide my son made from recycled wood/wooden pallets and other recycled/found objects. "Isn't it wonderful".. Sorry proud parent talking...

Close up of the door and inside..

Then into the garden, how about this for a gazebo made by Ben Coode-Adams. How I'd love one of these for my new garden.. (Is that a clue?.. More to come very soon, big things are happening)

...Well, that's another wonderful piece to put on my wish list..

Happy summer days to you all.. Julie.

Holiday in Norfolk

We have been on holiday this past week in Norfolk with our daughter her partner and their son, we stayed in a traditional flint cottage which was an absolute delight our grandson loved the ducks visiting us every morning and evening for their breakfast and supper

The Sainsbury Centre

We visited the Sainsbury Centre which is in the grounds of the University of East Anglia, Norwich. The collection, is held in building designed by Norman Foster, it is stunning the light illuminates the exhibitions, for me it has an air of expectancy an excitement that draws you in.
The collection is vast with artists represented from across the world, for instance, Sculpture by Henry Moore, paintings, sketches and sculpture by Alberto Giacometti, Paintings by Francis Bacon, modern pots by Lucie Rie, Hans Cooper and Rupert Spira. There were wonders from North America, The Cyclades in the Aegean sea,The Pacific, Central and South America, to name but a few. Cultures that I have never heard of, it was so exciting.
If your ever in the area its a great place to visit and its free. If you can't get there in person here is a web address - http://www.scva.org.uk/exhibitions/archive

Castle Acre Priory

Another place we visited was Castle Acre Priory. There was a peace about this place, set in beautiful countryside, the priory ruins span seven centuries, its hard to get the time line in your head, it was home to a community of monks until 1537 when Henry the VIII disbanded all monastic houses.
These are a few pictures of our visit. We all felt moved by the magnificence of the buildings and inspired by its beauty.
