My dear, dear friend has died peacefully at the St Helena Hospice in Colchester.
Friends like Carol come along but once in a lifetime. I am so grateful for the long friendship we had, but of course wish that it had lasted many more years...
We had such fun, learnt so much, studied ceramics and printing, propped each other up when necessary, we put right, all the wrongs in the world....Such wonderful discussions, I will miss them so much. We enjoyed each others company and had some absolutely wonderful days out together, never to be forgotten.
These memories I will treasure always and hold them close to my heart forever, grateful that Carol had been my friend.
My love goes to her wonderful family who have always welcomed me with open arms, thinking of you all at this sad time...
Carol my friend
Remember
Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.
Christina Rossetti
What a Wonderful picture of Carol and her Creative Energy xx such a beautiful lady.
ReplyDeleteJulie - I'm so sorry for your loss but glad your friend is now at peace. It's always hard to lose someone - we lose a little piece of ourselves too. So glad though that you have those fond memories - they make all the difference! Hugs to you.

ReplyDeleteDear Julie- Thinking of you across the wide seas... so sorry to hear about your friend. I came across this quote through blogland some time ago, maybe here, even, I don;t remember, but I saved it. I know in our recent family loss that this has been very true for us. Healing blessings, Valerianna
ReplyDelete"The death of a beloved is an event that rings and rings through a life:
bearing it is not a problem to be solved, but a long,
slow piece of music to listen to.
And mourning, like music,
is best listened to with others."
