Wivenhoe West Mersea reflective mood

I find it amazing how very small changes in the weather and the atmosphere have an effect on me and how I look and feel about things.

This past few days I have had that wonderful autumn feeling, it starts in my toes of all places, I can feel the chill coming, its come a little earlier this year, but I feel that I should start to tidy up the garden and put it to bed for the winter.

This morning I saw my first robin his winter waistcoat not completely red, I think he must be one of this years babies.

I have already started making mustard piccalilli and chutney with the vegetables from the garden, next the blackberries and apples will be ready and I shall be making jams, Christmas cakes and puddings as well as apple stuper and a fabulous winter chutney.

I love this homely feeling , filling the larder with the summers bounty..... in my case its the cupboard under the stairs.

It has also put me in a reflective mood I have been looking at some work that I did last year I thought you might like to have a look at my pictures of the boat yard in Wivenhoe and the wreck at West Mersea.

Here are two versions of the wreck at West Mersea.
