New painting.

'Second flush', Summer daisy.
Oil, pigments on board

Flowers picked from my tiny Falmouth garden.. The second flush of daisy's are a delight at this time of year.

Gylly bay.. Spring tide and an on shore wind..Just one hour between these photo's...

Just 5 minutes from where I live in Falmouth is Gyllynvase Beach but not much of the 'beach' to be seen yesterday due to a spring tide
..and an onshore wind.. Crazy!
The wind actually blew me over completely whilst I was taking this photograph..
When waves roll in literary roll in.
 Sea snow
Then just an hour later and a little further along the path looking towards Gyllynvase beach.
Looking towards the lighthouse at St Anthony Head.
This one is a bit fuzzy due to the 'mist' as the waves crashed into the sea defenses but it captures the atmosphere of the evening.

Red Arrows and Tall ships in Falmouth for 'The Pendennis Cup'.

The Sail boats were absolutely huge and magnificent.
A busy Saturday.. A visit to the Exchange in Penzance, an exhibition and The Maker's Market'. Pasties with friends for lunch then we dashed back to Swanpool to see 'The Red Arrows'.. They were fantastic. I hadn't seen a display for years, they didn't fail to impress.
I'm surprised I managed to take so many photographs of them as I had my eyes shut and hands over my ears when they did their close maneuvers in the sky..
Is it a bird...
No, just a little love in the sky over Falmouth... Enjoy the sunshine everyone and have a good weekend..

A walk through Kimberley park, Falmouth.

And what did I see... The biggest heron I have ever seen....
Looking down at the pond full of fish for tea.. I stood and watched him for 10 minutes or so, or was it him watching me? He continued waiting in the rain for an opportunity, as we left to find the car.
The 'Gunnera Manicata' (I think that's what they are called) are about 5' in height and just coming into flower.
The lush planting here in Kimberley park is an absolute joy at this time of the year.
Everything is bursting into flower.

As we left the park the summer rain began to fall.. Mother nature gave us an umbrella.
That was just a little too tall. The park was gifted to the town in 1887 so this monkey puzzle tree is at least 127 years old, probably older..

Drawing at the Falmouth Pavilion..

First off, a quick 2 minute sketch working around the sketch book. Love working this way..
Then the plants, I have no idea what this plant is called,
but it was like a lot of waggling tongues.
This is the base of it.. Charcoal this time. A bit of artistic license here happened, I think. Doesn't look quite right to me. Still learning after all these years.. Look and look again should be my motto.
Then looking up into the roof..
I'm in love, and will return many times to this wonderful place and it's gardens..

Only in Falmouth... Continued.... Moleskin sketches..

This young man took my eye, with his dreads tucked up under his enormous hat..
As I got my eye in, his hat slipped once again hiding his sparkly eyes..
The man on the right is watching me whilst I'm, watching him..
I couldn't resist this lady with her down turned mouth..
Everyone else was smiling. I don't think she was having a good time..

Then there was the dancers.. They kept moving.. Much more practice needed..

Only in Falmouth..

Dancing
 Drumming
A pirate for good measure... Of course..

And a Fair Trade tall ship
What an amazing afternoon we had..

Found another sweetheart..

Let me rephrase....  I was struggling up a very, very steep hill on the way to see my son, and stopped to catch my breath, looked down and there it was..
This is what eventually, we got to see, our son launch the canoe he made from scratch in only two days.. Basic and small but perfectly formed, and best of all water tight.
